About the Department

Established in 1963, the Department of Mathematics at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur is one of the founding academic departments of the Institute. Since its inception, the department has been committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation, playing a pivotal role in providing a strong mathematical foundation for engineering, science, and technology education. The department has offered a Ph.D. programme since its establishment, reflecting its long-standing commitment to advanced research and scholarly contributions. Building upon this strong research foundation, the department introduced the M.Sc. (Mathematics) programme in 2012 to nurture graduates with advanced mathematical knowledge and research aptitude. In 2026, the department further expanded its academic portfolio with the launch of the B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing programme, designed to equip students with a unique blend of mathematical rigor, computational expertise, and data-driven problem-solving skills for emerging technologies. Through its undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, it strives to develop highly skilled graduates capable of addressing complex scientific, engineering, industrial, and societal challenges. In addition to teaching core mathematics courses for various engineering and science programmes across the Institute.
The department is home to a dedicated team of accomplished faculty members engaged in high-quality research across a broad spectrum of pure and applied mathematics. Major research areas include linear and nonlinear stability analysis of convective flows, numerical and analytical methods in fluid dynamics, computational methods for partial differential equations, functional analysis, function spaces, hyperspace topologies, measure theory, linear algebra and its applications, fractional calculus, special functions, integral transforms, geometric function theory, bicomplex analysis, optimization, machine learning, computational statistics, and mathematical modelling. Faculty members regularly publish in leading international journals, supervise doctoral scholars, undertake sponsored research projects, and collaborate with reputed academic institutions and research organizations in India and abroad.
With a rich legacy spanning more than six decades and a vision aligned with the rapidly evolving landscape of mathematics and computational sciences, the Department of Mathematics at MNIT Jaipur continues to advance excellence in education, research, and innovation. The department remains dedicated to producing globally competent graduates, impactful research, and mathematical solutions that contribute to technological advancement and societal progress.

Mission

Our Mission is to prepare post-graduate and doctoral students for productive careers in academic by providing an excellent environment for teaching, learning, and research in pure and appliedmathematics, we aim to extend fundamental knowledge skills of mathematics so that students can pursue creative research in order to serve the needs of industry and the scientific community by expanding and contributing towards the knowledge of this incredible subject.

Vision

Our Vision is to be a recognized leader in Mathematics research and to have a strong impact in our targeted areas of research.
